Confidence & Self-Worth
Confidence and self-worth can be affected by many different experiences throughout life. You may have grown up feeling criticised or overlooked, experienced difficult relationships, faced setbacks, or simply found it hard to see yourself in a positive light.
Over time, these experiences can shape the way we view ourselves. Self-doubt can become familiar, making it difficult to recognise our strengths, trust our abilities, or believe that we are worthy of the same kindness and compassion we offer to others.
Low confidence and self-worth can affect many areas of life, including relationships, work, decision-making and overall wellbeing.
You may recognise some of the following:
- Constantly doubting yourself.
- Feeling not good enough.
- Comparing yourself to others.
- Finding it difficult to accept compliments.
- Fear of making mistakes.
- Struggling to set boundaries.
- Worrying about what other people think.
- Being overly critical of yourself.
- Finding it hard to trust your own judgement.
- Feeling like an imposter, even when doing well.
How counselling can help
Counselling provides a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore how you see yourself and where those beliefs may have come from.
Together, we can work towards recognising your strengths, challenging unhelpful patterns of thinking, building self-belief, and developing a kinder relationship with yourself.
You are more than your self-doubt. With support, it is possible to build confidence, recognise your worth, and begin to see yourself through a more compassionate lens.
