Stress and Emotional Overwhelm

Stress and overwhelm can affect us all at different times in life. You may be juggling work, family responsibilities, relationships, caring for others, financial pressures, health concerns, or simply trying to keep up with the demands of everyday life.

When everything feels like too much, it can be difficult to think clearly or find time for yourself. You may feel constantly under pressure, emotionally drained, or as though you're struggling to keep all the plates spinning.

Stress and overwhelm can affect both our emotional and physical wellbeing, leaving us feeling exhausted, irritable, anxious, disconnected, or unable to switch off.

You may recognise some of the following:

  • Feeling overwhelmed by everyday responsibilities.
  • Racing thoughts.
  • Feeling constantly under pressure.
  • Irritability or frustration.
  • Difficulty relaxing or switching off.
  • Feeling emotionally exhausted.
  • Trouble sleeping.
  • Difficulty concentrating.
  • Feeling on edge or tense.
  • Struggling to find time for yourself.
  • Feeling like you're carrying too much on your own.

How counselling can help

Counselling provides a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can slow things down and explore what's going on for you.

Together, we can begin to untangle your thoughts, emotions and experiences, helping you make sense of the pressures you're carrying and identify what you need moving forward.

My approach is primarily person-centred, which means you won't be rushed, judged, or told how you should be coping. Instead, we work at your pace, helping you feel heard, understood, and more in control of your experience.

Where it feels helpful, and with your agreement, I may gently draw on CBT-based techniques to support you in managing stress, calming overwhelming thoughts, and responding differently to challenging situations.

You don't have to carry it all on your own.
